Gordon Morrison: Gordon has worked in various financial controller, financial accountant, and financial management positions from small to large corporates based in New Zealand and overseas.
He was also the group finance manager for a company in the holiday industry and their associated companies in New Zealand and offshore. In Fiji Gordon managed a subsidiary of the parent company which was developing, building and managing resorts on one of the islands.
Whilst working for a computer implantation company, Gordon helped design, test, implement and train staff on accounting systems and databases for major New Zealand based clients with international businesses including those involved in the logistics industry.
Bill Singh: Bill spent 28 years with the Inland Revenue Department in a wide range of positions before establishing Gulf Accountants with Gordon Morrison. The highlights of his time with the IRD were his work in Fiji, in Delhi and in the Corporates Unit of the Inland Revenue Department.
Bill was chosen by the Ministry of External Affairs to assist the Government of Fiji in the implementation of Value Added Tax for that country as part of the New Zealand Governments aid package.
The position evolved to advising top public servants, senior politicians, large businesses and the Fiji Inland Revenue Department on the implementation and operation of Value Added Tax in that country. This included assisting with legislative changes, departmental procedures, writing the audit strategy, providing guidelines and answering questions in the Fijian Senate.
Jana Marusakova: Jana became a member of the team at Gulf Accountants in May 2006, after she graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in accountancy. During her studies she received two awards from the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants for outstanding academic achievements in the field of financial accounting. She uses her knowledge, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in her daily work to find practical accountancy solutions for clients with different accountancy needs.
Jana enjoys the challenges of working in a busy chartered accountancy office environment, especially the ability to interact with clients and to work on a variety of assignments. Her areas of responsibility include financial reporting, preparation of taxation returns, IRD contact on behalf of clients, as well as business advisory services.
Originally from Europe, Jana moved to Waiheke Island with her partner in 1998 and loves the island lifestyle. She is a keen tennis player and also enjoys swimming, hiking and singing.
Gabrielle Leon: Gabrielle has a lifetime of experience with practical, hands-on small business accounting. Handling bookwork for her family’s home-based software development companies from the teenage years, she moved on to successfully introduce the first commercial brand of Chai to the cafes of New Zealand (now sold by Phoenix). Deciding on a change of atmosphere, she became a Production Manager for a busy photography studio, the start of a 6 year career as a professional film and photography producer, managing the budgets, staffing and coordination of media campaigns for commercial clients such as Telecom, Vodafone, Adidas, Toyota, the All Blacks and many more, as well as various fashion, art and music projects.
Settled on Waiheke and needing a break from the city, Gabrielle joined the Gulf Accountants team in May 2008 and has been happily busy since. She enjoys meeting with clients and helping to jointly put together proactive solutions to the financial necessities of life. She is also a bit of a tech geek, and enjoys DJing, reading, gardening, travel and fashion in her spare time.
Serah Disley: Usually when you visit or telephone Gulf Accountants, Serah will be the person that welcomes you. She has been employed by Gulf Accountants since March 2009. Managing the front desk and other administrative duties in order to help the office run efficiently, she also helps with Accounts Receivable, Companies Office Annual Returns, maintaining our clients’ Trust Gifting and assisting with client files.
Serah comes from a background of Personal Assistant roles and also Project Coordinator roles with 17 years experience. She lives on the Island with husband Cam and 3 year old daughter Mia. They enjoy spending time on or in the water during summer and in the cooler months entertaining with friends and family.
